Rennae Thiessen
Rennae hails from the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada. After spending a year of her Art and Art History undergraduate studies in Florence, Italy, Rennae returned to Canada to complete her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan. She went on to pursue radiology residency training at the University of Ottawa, followed by a one-year subspecialty fellowship in Thoracic Radiology under Dr. Nestor Muller at Vancouver General Hospital.
Following her fellowship, Rennae continued to live and work in Vancouver but also included a two-month deployment with the Canadian Armed Forces to the Multinational Trauma Hospital in Kandahar, Afghanistan—an experience that remains a highlight of her career.
In 2012, she moved to Christchurch, New Zealand, where she worked as a Thoracic Radiologist at Christchurch Hospital (Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury) until returning to Canada in 2022. During her tenure in New Zealand, she served as Clinical Lead for Thoracic Radiology at Christchurch Hospital, Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Otago, and Executive Member of the Australia and New Zealand Society of Thoracic Radiology. She has a particular academic interest in interstitial lung disease, trainee education, physician health and wellbeing, and she volunteers with Radiology Across Borders.
Rennae continues to provide tele-thoracic radiology services for Reform Radiology and Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury while residing in Canada.
